Data Protection Manager

What is Data Protection Manager?

Data Protection Manager is an enterprise level, private-cloud backup solution that provides centralized management of backups for VMs and applications. With Data Protection Manager you can backup Windows Servers such as SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, Hyper-V Virtualization and file servers, as well as Windows desktops and laptops.

Data Protection Manager functions by performing a backup (copy) of data from various source locations to a target secondary location. DPM can even use tape based and virtual tape library archiving for extended storage or moving offsite. It even seamlessly integrates with the Azure cloud for  implementation of a complete Disaster Recovery solution.

Data Protection Manager supports the creation of full, incremental, differential, and bare-metal backups for complete system restores. It enables IT administrators and end users the ability to easily recover data in minutes from disk backups without having to locate tapes or rely on lower quality storage solutions.

With DPM, you can back up the entire DPM database to a tape for offsite storage and retrieval. Using replication methods you can even use a secondary DPM server in a different geographical location to protect the primary server.

1.

Disaster Recovery Ready

DPM is designed with redundancy and Disaster Recovery in mind so you can rest assured you're team is prepared.

With the DPM Central Console you can monitor and manage multiple DPM servers from a centralized location. Monitoring is made easier with DPM's integration into Operations Manager.

2.

Scalable Design

Backup solutions have to be ready to grow with a business in order to ensure constant and effective protection.

IT Administrators and end-users are easily able to recover data in minutes using the disk-based storage solutions, reducing overall downtime and complications.

3.

Rapid Recovery

DPM was designed with ease and reliability in mind to simplify the recovery process.

Speed up recovery using solutions such as the System Recovery Tool (SRT), which provides bare-metal recovery of virtual servers and desktops running Windows.

Bandwidth Throttling

Ensure your backups don't hinder your day-to-day operations and user productivity by limiting the amount of network resources a synchronization job can consume.

Enterprise Deployment

With DPM, you have the option to deploy from the management console or integrate the agent with SCCM for enterprise level deployments.

Monitoring Support

Integrate with System Center Operations Manager to extend your DPM solution with best-in-class monitoring for reliable, available backups.
